Welcome to week 50 of our Conspectus series. We’re aware that there were a multitude of album releases satisfied that you may be occupied with this weekend (like Steve Angello‘s Wild Youth and Never Say Die‘s fourth showcase album), but if you’re not into the commercial house and dubstep scenes, we’ve got you covered; this week’s edition is chock full of independent EDM artists.
We’ll kick off this edition with ASTRVL, who were featured on last week’s edition with “Sleepless,” but found their way back to another feature with “Elevate,” a track that seems to define progressive house with its blazing synths and gorgeous lead melody. Next, we’ll tone it down a bit with “Deeper,” the newest and deepest single from Mind Cntrl and Fabian James. 3rd Prototype and Overused also impressed this week with their debut collaboration “Switch,” a bass house banger that has captivated my ears since my first listen. In Two Friends‘ remix of Pegboard Nerds‘ “Downhearted,” the duo challenges the true definition of progressive house, slowing down the original future bass anthem and leading the track with a more artistic, scratchy lead synth choice. We’re happy to close out our 50th edition with Foreign Sound‘s “Dark Horns,” a pumping trap track that shows a promising future for the duo.
Listen to all of this week’s picks below and make sure to support these up-and-coming acts with a follow!
