We know, we know: it’s the weekend, time to get all kinds of hyphy. However, for those of you looking to spend the next couple of days chilling to the max, we have the perfect soundtrack for you; courtesy of Emancipator‘s Loci Records imprint.
Tristan de Liège, better known by his alias, Stratus, brings us The Diver: 12 tracks of blissfully melodic downtempo. Inspired by the sounds of jazz, instrumental hip-hip, and a love for film scores and orchestral arrangements, it perfectly matches the existing Loci Records vibe, as well as carving out a small niche of its own. Stratus‘ impressive talent as a multi-instrumentalist is showcased throughout the release, as many of the unique combinations of strings, keys, and percussion are performed by him personally. The Diver‘s lead single, ‘Rêve de Nuages’ (which roughly translates to ‘Dreaming of Clouds’), is a perfect example of this, with soft piano notes and acoustic guitar plucks meshing with delicate, drawn out vocal samples. We could see this music being great for meditation, exploration, and, of course, relaxation; but, you’ll have to listen for yourself to decide.
