It’s no secret that Jay-Z-founded streaming service TIDAL has been long overdue for some serious changes. The site has replaced its CEO three times in nine months, and fired both its COO and CFO in March. Despite flaunting its exclusive album releases from the likes of Rihanna, Kanye West and Beyonce, competing streaming service Apple Music has been able to effectively counter them from the start with content from Drake, Chance the Rapper, Dr. Dre, Run the Jewels and more.
Now, it appears TIDAL may finally be in negotiations with Apple Music regarding their prospective acquisition of the organization. After failing to make a deal with Samsung earlier this year, Jay-Z and TIDAL have been on the hunt for a willing buyer to take the service off his hands.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple and TIDAL executives are currently in exploratory talks with each other regarding the matter. As of yet, neither the terms nor the certainty of the deal itself have been confirmed.
