Flume Shares Playlist Of Music That Influenced “Skin”

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - OCTOBER 15: Flume poses at the 27th Annual ARIA Nominations Event at Art Gallery New South Wales on October 15, 2013 in Sydney, Australia. (Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images)

After an exhausting season of touring for his sophomore Skin LP, Australian producer Flume has reemerged onto his Youtube channel to debut a complete track from his upcoming Skin Companion EP, “Quirk.” Serving as the atmospheric setting to video of he and decorated, professional surfer Steph Gilmore trying their hand at the world’s first artificial wave pool.

Set to be released on November 25 via Mom + Pop, the song sees Flume pulling back the intensity and weight behind some of his more recent tracks in place of a more intimate and refined style. Featuring relentless strings and a minimal percussion section, “Quirk” is reminiscent of some of Flume’s earliest work. Combined with sporadic interview clippings from the man himself, the experience of watching the new video is a truly meaningful one that excites us even more for the EP to follow.
