I’m a total sucker for productions that you might call “super synthy.” It’s that over-abundance of deep and layered, rich-textured synths you might find in some M83, Porter Robinson or Madeon songs. And there are certainly a lot of producers who try to find that right balance, but very rarely do you get it right.

New duo¬†Essex has hit that sweet spot with their debut track “Roads” and we’ve had this one on repeat since it dropped last Friday. The crooning vocals and synth-pop percussion immediately draw you in, and the lyrics and sweet sounds of the song keep you paying attention.

Though at times it does sound a little too close to Porter, Essex is always able to bring it back to their signature melodic sound in the drop. Listen to “Roads” below:
