We’re chatting with Maybon, a Norwegian electronic producer with real artistry this week. Having just released a new track called ‘Everything I Do,’ it’s clear his year is off to a good start.
Hey Maybon, good to chat to you! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself as an artist… what makes the Maybon sound?
My life consists of music production mainly, but I also put a lot of time into skateboarding in the summer and freestyle skiing in the winter. These are the things that I appreciate the most in the world, and I’m super happy that I can do at least one of these things every day.
What are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned since you started making music? What have been some of the challenges so far?
The most important lesson so far is to trust your own decisions. If the beat doesn’t make you feel anything, your audience won’t probably feel it either. The biggest challenge is to make something popular, while still keeping my own signature sound on the song.
Do you remember what first got you into wanting to create music? What do you listen to when you’re not making it?
The first time I saw someone produce music, I immediately had to try it myself.
I have always loved being creative, either through taking pictures or create paintings etc. but music production got me so hung up that I just couldn’t quit. I love it, and it is my passion!
Your new single ‘Everything I Do’ with Alida is such a great track, and is super infectious! How long did it take you to put together?
‘Everything I Do’ was actually made on a songwriting camp, so it took about 10 hours to put everything together. Although I put in a lot of time and effort on the song after the writing camp as well.
What’s the story behind it?
We were 4 great people in the studio just trying to make a great song! 1 producer (me) and 3 singers/songwriters. We had such a good time and the pieces fell into place really quickly.
Did you enjoy working with Alida on the tune? How did you find out about her?
I had heard some of her featuring’s before, but it was completely random that we were grouped together on the writing camp. We had a great time in the studio and she has an incredible pop voice that fits the production perfectly.
What have you got coming up next?
I’m working hard on my next singles and I’m starting to like them a lot. My future music will have even more of the Maybon signature sound, with great, catchy hooks! Stay tuned.
