It’s been a couple months since we last heard from The Chainsmokers, but their return is well worth the wait. Haters be damned in 2018, The Chainsmokers are coming back with a vengeance and a new sound that is undeniably addicting and far more “real” than whatever MDNO was.
“Side Effects” brings back frequent collaborator and co-writer Emily Warren as a featured vocalist in this funky house new cut. Aside from the cleanliness in the production, “Side Effects” is absolutely presented as a throwback cut with its slapping bassline and soft lead melody on the piano and drums. Warren is the perfect accompaniment to the mix as well, presenting an effortless and simple style to go along with the beat.
Of the new single, the duo says, “We are proud to bring you our new song, ‘Side Effects,’ featuring our dear friend and frequent collaborator Emily Warren. We felt it was time for a summer jam rooted in the sound we created when we first started making records. Our music is always a current reflection of how we feel, what inspires, and who we are in that particular moment. Enjoy!”
