Julian Jordan and WILL K, two of STMPD RCRDS’ stalwarts, have teamed up for their very first collab, “The Box,” and it is a dancefloor heater, sure to get you amped up for when clubs re-open. It’s the third single of the year for the Dutchman Julian Jordan and the second single of 2021 for Australia’s WILL K. Julian has already dropped the festival banger “Big Bad Bass” and the more radio-friendly “Let Me Be the One.” WILL K recently dropped “Honestly” on Alok’s Controversia label.
“The Box” is a slickly-produced club track with a little bit of a tech-y edge to it. The track opens up with a four-four beat and some little percussion flourishes before a chopped-up vocal chant wipes the palette clean. After a bit there’s some tech-y drums building up to the drop. The same vocal chant colors the drop and it’s rollicking bassline. If you weren’t already dancing, then the hi-hats come in to really take the groove to the next level. An ominous synth line comes in very quickly before the drop continues. The song continues but with way more reverb and the vocal chant used like the drums for a super rave-y effect.
