Global Communication’s 18 Year Hiatus Broken with new Remix

Ambient staple Global Communication has released new material – the first in almost 18 years. There’s a remix of Dusky’s Skin Deep, and a promise of more material in the future.

Fans of Global Communication’s classic 76:14 album will find familiarity in the remix’s arpeggiated, sprightly synths and big-beat rhythms. Finishing around the eight minute mark, it finds plenty of space to expand upon Dusky’s use of deep chords and vocals. But despite one half of the outfit missing (Middleton is on his own without Pritchard), Global Communication sound fresh and interesting without straying far from their oeuvre.

76:14 was released in 1994 and is considered essential for anyone wishing to cut their teeth on ambient music or the electronic canon. With critical acclaim and a mention in The Guardian’s, ‘1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die’ list, it is considered their greatest work. Global Communication also experienced huge exposure with their track 5:23 included in the Grand Theft Auto: IV soundtrack.

You can stream the remix, and buy it here.
