Shlump has had a meteoric rise over the last few years, and for very good reason. He routinely churns out block-rockin’ beats, his live performances are utterly insane, and he constantly strives to level up. While he’s currently on tour with Liquid Stranger, Bleep Bloop, and Perkulat0r, he still finds time to create.

In fact, he’s got an entire album in the works. Entitled Like A Drug, it will feature nine brand new original tracks from this champion of West Coast bass. The full release won’t be available until November 16th, but never fear; the first single is here! ‘Maniac’ is quite an appropriate title, too, as the track is straight up bonkers. Shlump’s style usually has a distinctly trap-influenced vibe, but this time he branched out and went full-on dubstep. Minimal, percussion-based intros and interludes quickly give way to raucous synths that grind across rails of sub-bass. The sound design here feels like a natural evolution of this beat hustler’s style; a similar vibe, but with different execution.

Check out the stream of ‘Maniac’ after the jump and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the full album when it drops on Wakaan next month!
