Sonny Fodera & Dom Dolla Bring House to Los Angeles [Event Review]

House music is scorching hot right now! If you’re like me and lean more toward melodies and vocals, you might sometimes wonder what house is all about. However, as everyone from Diplo to Tiësto is trying their hand as house and tech over the past year or so, it’s actually been really easy to appreciate the basslines and grooves that drive house music.

Australia has always had a strong tradition of house music and two of their biggest exports have been Sonny Fodera and Dom Dolla. We got to catch Sonny & Dom at their L.A. stop at the Shrine during their brief North America mini-tour.

Dom Dolla has swiftly been rising the charts the past couple of years, last year Pete Tong named him a “future star of 2019” and Billboard named him as an “artist to watch.” The gigs will keep on coming in 2020 as Dom is scheduled to play Ultra Miami, Coachella and EDC Las Vegas. Not to be outdone, Sonny Fodera had a solid 2019 as well, releasing his fourth album Rise and his highly streamed single “One Night” with MK. Sonny Fodera will also be playing EDC Las Vegas this year.

The two have made for the perfect pair on the road. They managed to turn Los Angeles’s iconic Shrine Auditorium into a popping club/afterhours spot during their sold-out show two weekends ago. The packed house delighted in the pure house music that the duo provided over the course of the night. Dom and Sonny each played an hour solo set before going b2b to close out the night.

One of the highlights had to be when AlunaGeorge came out to join Sonny for their new song “Before U,” which will be out Feb 28. The capacity crowd was enraptured by the British singer’s stunning vocals and the non-stop, insane house beats. Here’s a clip of the madness if you missed out on the show.

The mini-tour isn’t over yet, catch Sonny Fodera x Dom Dolla if they come to your town. Get your tickets here. Expect to see both artists busy on the festival circuit this year. Listen to some of Dom and Sonny’s latest hits below.

April 2 – Concord Music Hall – Chicago, IL
April 3 – Secret Warehouse – Brooklyn, NY
April 4 – Big Night Live – Boston, MA
