Insomniac Events is a legend in the electronic scene, curating some of the biggest and best festivals in America. The lineups of its major festivals are on point more often than not, spanning all the major areas of EDM to satisfy most fans in attendance. Insomniac also caters to some specific scenes, starting the Bassrush and Basscon series to showcase the heavier sounds of bass music and hard dance. With shows dedicated to the best in bass, it was only a matter of time until Insomniac began tackling other genres.
And that time is finally here. It was recently announced via the EDCLV pamphlet that Insomniac would be creating an all-trance festival in Southern California and now the whole lineup is here. Scheduled for November 27-28, Dreamstate will bring with it some of the best names in trance, sure to please a large number of die-hard fans. Insomniac managed to book some huge artists (to no one’s surprise), ensuring there would be minimal disappointment in this debut event. Acts like Aly & Fila, Astrix, John O’Callaghan, Paul Oakenfold, and Paul van Dyk will grace the decks over the course of two days. They will be spinning pure trance sets, something that seems to be lost in today’s ever-expanding fascination with ‘trouse.’ This will surely be embraced by the trance community, as I can only assume many fans are tired of some of the less-than-impressive acts being booked in the current festival circuit.
And it seems the promoters have their heads in the right place too, as head-honcho Pasquale Rotella had this to say about Dreamstate:
Our Basscon and Bassrush brands have been the epicenters for all forms of hard dance and bass music. It’s time that we brought that same level of quality, creativity, and inspiration to the trance community. Dreamstate will be completely dedicated to celebrating trance in all of its forms. Trance fans are some of the most passionate in electronic music, and I hope that Dreamstate will provide them with a promising new destination.
