‘Future’ house connoisseurs Autograf are back with a brand new twist on a hip-hop classic, Dr Dre’s “The Next Episode.” While they aren’t the first dance music group to put their spin on this oft-remixed classic, they do manage to get their take fresh while retaining their unique Autograf spin.
The ‘remix’ starts out stripped down and dark as Autograf whisk us away with their smooth melodies and subtle chimes and delicate instrumentation. The song picks up as Dr Dre’s vocals come in at the first drop before mellowing again during the bridge only for the track to pick up once again with an edgy second drop – a fine display of musical arrangement if I’ve ever heard one.
