At times it looked like April would go the way of March in being one of the slower months in music we’ve had to date. Then, on the last week of the month, Odesza came out of nowhere with two huge singles and then Friday the 28th hit and we were graced with new music by Kygo, Whethan, the new Cashmere Cat album and much more.
Firstly, by virtue of having dropped their first new material in almost three years, Odesza lands themselves the slot as playlist cover and lead track with “Line Of Sight,” the first single they dropped that day, the top of our list. Following that, fellow A-listers Kygo’s new collaborative single with Ellie Goulding plus the banging new Martin Garrix single “Byte” and “Say Less” by Dillon Francis were just three more of the A-listers gracing us with new singles this month. Cashmere Cat also dropped his long-awaited debut album 9 which features some incredible cuts including “Quit” with Ariana Grande.
In the emerging dance superstars category, it was even better. Whethan landed himself a Charli XCX feature with “love gang,” Illenium and Kerli teamed up for “Sound of Walking Away,” MALAA also got into the act with new single “Contagious,” Seven Lions and NGHTMRE and Ghastly teamed up for “End of the Night.”
We’ve also included a couple of high profile remixes this month with Kaskade, Naderi, Oliver and Bassnectar all getting involved. Special shout-out also goes to Anna Lunoe for two releases plus Coachella this month despite the exciting announcements about her pregnancy – congratulations again Anna!
Finally, I wanted to give some more love to some of our favorite emerging acts that put out some great music this month. From OLWIK’s single “Know You Better” to “See Through Me” by DROELOE and “Levitate” by Rootkit and my personal favorite, Pomo’s new single “Fall Together” April turned out to be a great month for dance music overall.
