Dimitri Vegas, Sylver and Pat B have joined forces on ‘Turn The Tide’, out now via Smash The House. The release reworks Sylver’s 2000 dance-floor staple of the same name, pairing Silvy De Bie’s original vocal with a fresh production built for today’s festival stages.
The result sits somewhere between eras. New-school hardstyle textures drive the track forward, but the emotional core of the original remains intact, carried through in the vocal and in sweeping trance melodies laid over gritty, hard-hitting drums. It’s a version built for both the dance floor and the nostalgia it taps into, with euphoric build-ups leading into drops heavy enough to shake a festival tent.
Dimitri ‘Vegas’ Thivaios needs little introduction as one half of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, the Belgian duo who have become fixtures of the Tomorrowland mainstage. Beyond the decks, Thivaios has built out an acting career, with credits including the Belgian thriller H4Z4RD, a role in Jurassic World Dominion, and voice work in Mortal Kombat. Sylver, the Belgian trio behind the original ‘Turn The Tide’, consists of De Bie alongside keyboardist Wout Van Dessel and producer Regi Penxten; the group marked the song’s 25th anniversary this year with a limited merchandise run and a European tour that launched at Sportpaleis. Dutch DJ and producer Pat B rounds out the collaboration, bringing his background in jumpstyle and hardstyle from stages including Tomorrowland and Defqon.1, alongside his own label, Yellow Fever.
